Gaga's Glitters Newsletter May, 2020

Updated: May 26

Stale News: We are still practicing stay at home for me. Allan goes out twice a week- grocery shopping and chiropractor. Sara is still at home not in preK classes. Libby is working essential job- goes in every week day. Robynn and Barry are still working from home. Candice is not working- she can live off stimulus check and income tax refund for a while but she has to work sometime!!

How about you? Working?, working from home?. not working? Sick with virus? getting well?

I see some cute tents and tables and chairs added outside fancy restaurants, I see lots of people wearing masks. Lines outside of stores, people waiting their turn to get in. MSN showed a picture of people with pool noodles tied to their heads to keep social distancing while dining outside!!!

Be safe, avoid crowds, wash your hands often, wear mask and I will pray for your safe return home.

Gaga's News for Blogs:

Gaga's Glitters is moving on. I have a great outfit for us to discuss but first let's recall that the latest blog is on exercises. I have grouped exercises to help with specific problem areas, illnesses, conditions, and etc. The first one was for those of us who do exercises sitting in a chair. The second will be for finger, thumb, wrist, arm and shoulder problems. We will explore other areas from there.

The Golden Bracelet Story

Last we saw was where Princess Destiny was mad at her Prince as she found out that her bracelet was made of metal that had been painted gold. But it was not gold all the way through. Neither the Queen nor the Princess could let on that they knew because they would be found out. You see they left the palace grounds without an escort of any sort.

As the story is told,The Princess was very coy and charmed her Prince into getting her a silver bracelet for her other arm. He agreed to have it made by Christmas so she could wear it to all the balls. Meanwhile, over at Summerville Castle, the Queen sought to get a second bracelet for herself in gold for her other arm. The King was delighted by the idea and set forth having the Royal Jewelry Smith make one for Christmas.

This is like the bracelet that the King had made for the Queen for Christmas. You can find it at www.gagasglitters.com

More story in next newsletter.

New outfit to Discuss:

What would you do to improve this outfit? I say let's add some orange earrings, some gold bracelets, and change out the shoes and bag for something else. I might use some orange flats and a white canvas bag trimmed in gold hardware. You could go with navy blue shoes, orange beaded bracelet and change the bag to straw bag. Write in the comments what you might do esp. for jewelry. or contact me lmackechnie50@gagasglitters.com

Beer & Bacon Mac 'n Cheese

A silky beer and bacon-infused cheese sauce takes this mac and cheese up a notch. This recipe is perfect for entertaining or feeding a crowd. Course Baked pasta, Mac and cheese, macaroni, Pasta Prep Time 5 minutes Cook Time 1 hour Total Time 1 hour 5 minutes Servings 8 -10 Author Alida Ryder Ingredients for the sauce to assemble

Instructions 500 g bacon diced 150 g butter 1/2 cup flour 1 can beer approximately 330ml 250 ml milk 250 ml cream 2-3 cups strong cheddar grated pinch of freshly grated nutmeg 1 teaspoon smoked paprika salt & pepper to taste 1 kg cooked macaroni reserve 2 cups of the cooking water 1 cup grated cheese mixed with 1 cup fresh breadcrumbs

1. Pre-heat the oven to 200°c and grease a large oven-proof dish.

2. Fry the bacon in a large pot until crisp and golden.

3. Remove the bacon from the pot but leave the fat.

4. Add the butter to the bacon fat and allow to melt before adding the flour.

5. Stir and cook for 1 minute before slowly pouring in the beer whilst whisking. When all the beer has been incorporated, add the milk and cream and mix until the sauce is smooth.

At this point you might need to add a little more liquid, I just add more milk but you can also use chicken stock if you prefer. The sauce needs to be the consistency of shop-bought custard.

Take the pot off the heat and

Add the cheese and bacon back to the sauce as well as the smoked paprika and nutmeg, and stir until the cheese has melted. Season to taste.

6. When the sauce is cooked, mix it with the cooked macaroni. Add some of the reserved cooking water and mix well. The macaroni needs to be well covered by the sauce and will almost look like it's got too much sauce covering it. If it doesn't, add more of the water. If you wanted to be very decadent you could add more cream at this stage too.

7. Transfer the macaroni into the prepared dish and cover with the breadcrumbs/cheese mixture.

8. Place in the oven and allow to bake for 20-25 minutes until the top is golden brown and the sauce is bubbling.

9. Remove from the oven and allow to sit for 5 minutes before serving. Beer & Bacon Mac
